Costa Rica will start construction of the Circunvalacion Norte, the northern ring road in the capital San Jose by the end of September.
A new 5.8km road linking La Uruca and the Santo Tomas junction will be built as part of the project, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transports. Work will be carried out in five different phases over 28 months.
Construction will also start on a flyover of the Garantias Sociales roundabout and a new 11.2km road in the Alto Comte indigenous community, which also includes the construction of four bridges. The cost of both works will be nearly US$7 million and construction is expected to start in the last half of 2018.
Finally, the bridge along Route 32 over the Virilla River will be expanded with the addition of a parallel three-lane bridge joined to the existing one.
