A key bridge project in Bangladesh will be financed by loans from Malaysia

Work on a key bridge link in Bangladesh is to be financed by a loan provided by Malaysia. The Bangladesh Government and Malaysian Government have signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of Padma bridge. Under the terms of this deal Malaysia looks set to provide a US$2.2 billion loan for the project. Work is starting during and is expected to take just 54 months to complete. The construction will be carried out by a consortium comprising five contractors, although the names of the companies concerned has not yet been released.
