Tunisia is setting out plans for a major road development programme. To help fund the project, the Tunisian Government has held discussions regarding financing in the shape of loan deals with the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The work is intended to boost traffic flow, capacity and safety on Tunisia’s road system in a bid to help boost economic activity. By 2035, the surfaced road network in Tunisia will be expanded by around 5,000km to 14,000km. The new traffic links will also be designed so as to meet environmental requirements and be resilient to climate change.
