U-turn on Slovakian motorway tender

First publishedon www.WorldHighways.com
The Italian-Slovak consortium of HANT BA DS and INC has been excluded by the Slovak national motorway company NDS from the tender for the construction of a 15.25km stretch of the Hubova-Ivachvova D1 motorway in Slovakia.

Slovak company HANT BA DS has asked NDS to revaluate its decision as it claims that its offer fulfils all tender conditions.

The consortium offered the lowest price of US$259.44mn (€207.50mn) excluding VAT. Italian partner INC claims that exclusion from the tender was unfounded and said it would turn to all possible legal instruments, including European institutions, for assistance.

The estimated cost of the D1 motorway construction works is €465.71million.The second lowest bid, worth €215.38million, was offered by the consortium of Slovak firms TuCon and Inzinierske Stavby, followed by another Italian-Slovak consortium of Impregilo and Duha with €224.9million.

Building works should take three and a half years and the project could be completed by the end of 2015.
