Kazakhstan road rebuild for Turkestan Region

First published28/01/2019

Kazakhstan is setting a budget of US$117 million for a series of road and bridge works in its Turkestan Region. In all work will be carried out to build or reconstruct around 974km of roads, while the project also includes building eight bridges. A number of streets in the city of Turkestan will also benefit from rebuilding work, while the 12km road leading to the main airport will also be rebuilt.

Lying close to Kazakhstan’s southern border with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, this part of the country provides important transport link to neighbouring countries. It is also close to western China, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, with potential for increased trade and transport with neighbouring nations to boost economic development for the region as a whole.
