The end of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety in 2020 marks the start of new forms of international collaboration to avert the continuing and growing epidemic of road traffic injuries, responsible for 1,350,000 fatalities per year. Key to the success of further efforts is the acknowledgement that no level of death or serious injury is acceptable. Taking human fallibility and vulnerability into account must thus become paramount priorities for all actors of the road transport system.
The International Road Federation (IRF Global) is fully committed to supporting efforts to translate Georgia’s “Vision Zero” commitment into a tangible policies and design guidelines.
