The 4138 Bechtel 5252 Enka joint venture partnership has completed the first 20km section of the Kosovo Route 6 highway which links Pristina with Macedonia.

The new section was opened recetnly at a ceremony attended by Kosovo President Hashin Thaci and other government officials including the Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, Head of Parliament Kadri Veseli, and Minister of Transport Lutfi Zharku.

“It is extremely important to celebrate the incredible construction work done this year and the year before, which has enabled us to open this critical stretch of motorway,” said Isa Mustafa, Prime Minster of Kosovo.

Work started on the Route 6 Motorway in 2014. The new highway will connect to Kosovo’s first motorway Route 7, which was also built by the Bechtel Enka joint venture. Route 7 opened in November 2013, a year ahead of schedule. The Kosovo Motorway project has won three international awards for programme management and environmental mitigation.
