The contract for a stretch of the S19 expressway in Poland will be handled by STRABAG. The firm will build a 12km stretch of the route in the Podlaskie Voivodeship of northern Poland, in a  package of works worth € 67.5 million.

The contract was awarded to STRABAG by the Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The design and build contract is for a new stretch of the S19 between Bielsk Podlaski West and Boćki.

STRABAG will build the expressway with two lanes in either direction, although provision will be left for an additional lane in either direction for the future.

This is the second stretch of the S19 expressway in Poland that STRABAG has been awarded a contractor. The firm won the tender for a 16km section of the S19 between Boćki in Malewice in September 2021 and the schedule calls for both to be completed in 2025.

The S19 forms part of the planned Via Carpatia transnational highway network that will connect Klaipėda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece. When completed, the network will link the Baltic Sea ports with the ports of the Aegean and Black Seas.
