Canadian company Envision SQ says that it has created a photocatalytic pollution barrier for highways that cuts NOx and VOCs in half

UK maintenance company Ringway says that it has invested in Readi Barriers to help improve the management of road closures and reduce the number of incidents with the travelling public. Several automatic Readi Barrier systems have been trialled as an alternative way of enforcing road closures at sites in the English counties of North Yorkshire, Hertfordshire, Cheshire West, the East Midlands and Cambridgeshire.

The iconic Golden Gate Bridge in California is now benefiting from the introduction of a new moveable barrier. Barrier Systems is extending its line with the introduction of its new U-MAD trailer-mounted attenuator (TMA). This uses the proven U-MAD technology and is intended to make work zones safer for highway maintenance personnel. These TMA units can be used to protect errant motorists who collide with slow moving or stationary shadow vehicles, improving safety for the motorist and the support vehicle operator, as well as shielding highway workers.

The UN Road Safety Collaboration has used support from the World Health Organisation in its development of a Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 (DARS).
