Austrian contractor Strabag has won a stake in a design and build road contract in Poland. The project is worth a total of €133 million and involves building a section of highway carrying three lanes in either direction. The firm will work on the project to build another stretch of the A1 highway in Poland. The 17km long Section C begins at the Kamieńsk junction and ends at Radomsko, where the construction of a motorway interchange forms part of the order.

Budimex and Strabag have won a contract to design and build 16km of Poland’s four-lane A1 highway between Tuszyn and Bełchatów. The €111 million deal with the Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Highways is scheduled for completion within 32 month, excluding winter months. The entire section will be concrete and includes two junctions, 17 bridges, several intersections and access roads, noise barriers and wildlife crossings.

Poland will use the public-private partnership model for four road sections worth in total €2.32 billion. The roads are the S6 running from Koszalin to the DK6 at Bozepole Wielkie, the S10 from Bydgoszcz to Torun, the western ring-road of Szczecin and the ring-road around the TriCity metropolis. Tenders will be issued likely by the end of the year or the first quarter 2019, according to Polish media. Polish contractor Budimex has won a tender to build a 20km-long section of the S61 dual carriageway in Poland. The section runs from the Wysokie junction to Raczki, the national highways authority GDDKiA announced. Budimex bid just over €484 million for the 29-month design-build contract. Last summer, the Italian contractor Impressa Pizzarotti picked up a deal for 24km of the S61 from Suwalki to the border with Lithuania for around €144.6 million, according to media reports. A Mostostal Warszawa consortium has reportedly made the lowest bids to build three sections of the S19 from Nisko to Sokolow Malopolski in south-eastern Poland. The consortium’s bid was just over €187 million in total. Other bids which were received from a Strabag consortium and a Budimex consortium.

Poland’s road authority GDDKiA said that five groups have tendered for construction of a 17.5km section of the S61 Expressway. The section runs from Podborze junction to Sniadowo junction and all bids fall within the investor's budget of around €146 million. The lowest offer reportedly was from a Rubau Polska consortium, at around €112 million, while the highest bid was lodged by Budimex at around €139 million.

Poland’s highways directorate, GDDKiA, says 12 bids have been received for construction of the second section of the S7 dual carriageway. The 15km section will run from the Lesznowola junction to the Tarczyn Polnoc junction. Metrostav submitted the highest offer at €118 million, while the cheapest offer came from a consortium of Porr Polska Infrastructure and Porr Bau. Other bidders include others, Budimex, Intercor and Polaqua.
