The latest reports on the new Autopista de Coral highway in the Dominican Republic say that the project is on schedule. The US$360 million highway project is for a 70km stretch of road featuring four lanes and will be constructed by Brazilian contractor Norberto 1305 Odebrecht. The preliminary plans have been prepared and construction work will commence in mid-2012. The road will cut journey times from La Romana to Punta Cana from the present two hours to only 40 minutes.
