Construction procurement agreements have been signed with the authorities handling the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project. Construction procurement agreements have been signed with the authorities handling the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project. The project is worth US$11.56 billion and is is designed to have a lifespan of 120 years. The 50km bridge is planned to open for traffic in 2016 and will connect Zhuhai in China’s Guangdong Province with Macau and Hong Kong. 4879 Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry and 4880 China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group have signed contracts in connection with the project. The bridge is designed to be able to withstand magnitude eight earthquakes and includes a 6.65km underwater tunnel. In addition, China's Guangdong province plans to spend $15.8 billion on 76 transportation projects in 2012. A key project is for the 89.4km Guangzhou-Shenzhen coastal expressway project, which is to be completed in 2013.
