In Italy the state-controlled road concessionare 1184 ANAS has activated €6 billion worth of funding for highway and general road works in the region of Liguria (northern Italy). Of this sum, €4 billion will be used to build new Gronda di Ponente bypass, the San Benigno bypass, and the extension of the A7 highway, as well as for maintenance work on key tunnels and viaducts. Meanwhile in a major financial deal in Italy, a €100 million capital increase is planned for the Italian Pedemontana Lombarda highway project shortly. This will be followed later by a further €100 million capitalisation. The arrangement would provide sufficient funds for the firm to be able to place the tender for the second phase of construction for the highway between Bergamo and Varese.
