Construction work on Chile’s Americo Vespucio Oriente 1 (AVO 1) highway is starting somewhat later than was originally planned. Originally construction of the new highway was to have commenced in September 2016, but this was then held back first to July 2017 and finally to October 2017. As a result, the first section of the highway is not now expected to be ready for traffic until June 2021, a full six months after it was originally planned to open. However, there is a risk also that the finish date could be later still as a final decision has yet to be made over the environmental assessment. The highway is owned and managed jointly by 980 OHL and 3959 Sacyr.
