Construction work has commenced for Peru’s Huactahuaru Tunnel. The new tunnel will measure 580m in length and form part of the Huánuco-Huallanca highway.

The construction work for the 47.6km Huánuco-Huallanca highway is costing US$311.7 million. The new tunnel will form part of stage three of the highway project, linking Ancash Region with Huanuco Region. The highway project is being managed by Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and will also include building eight bridges along the route.
