Construction will commence on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) connector road in the Philippines in early 2019. Although the road will be just 8km-long, it will provide an important connection in the Manila area and is expected to help cut peak time traffic congestion. The project to build the NLEX will be handled jointly by the toll road firm NLEX Corporation and the Philippines’ 2569 Department of Public Works and Highways.

Costing some US$439 million the NLEX will be an elevated route featuring two lanes in either direction and the project is being handled under the PPP model. The link will improve traffic flow on the north side of Manila, specifically between the Caloocan City and Santa Mesa areas. The road is now due for completion at the end of 2020, a few months earlier than originally planned finish date during the second quarter of 2021.
