Construction equipment manufacturer 176 Case put dozens of its operator customers through their paces at a first-ever European Rodeo event to mark the first anniversary of the opening of its Customer Centre in Paris.

Operators from the UK, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark and Poland spent an action-packed weekend practising, competing and then celebrating with Case.

The competition involved four Case machines on which the operator customers were briefed before they were allowed to practice on them at the centre.

As a warm-up, guests gathered at the Buffalo Bill show in EuroDisney for an American-style dinner and lively team trials.

The Yeehaa loader trial involved an extendible Case 590 Super R Series 3 with piloted controls and involved picking up two tubes that lifted a bucket with a ball supported on it. The operator had to get the ball in another bucket.

A Case CX240BMH was used to move material in the Bullseye crawler excavator trial, while a Case TX170-45 was used for the telescopic Gold Rush trial.

"Contestants had to do an empty run and then the same run with a crane fork loaded with gravel, on a narrow circuit, so the Case machine could show its high level of manoeuvrability thanks to a reduced turning angle," said the company.

The last trial, Skid and Slide Saddle, was performed with a Case 420 CT compact tracked loader.

"Operators had to do the same run forwards and backwards with the compact loaded with four buckets full of water and two rubber ducks in each one. The aim was to complete the run as quickly as possible without losing the ducks or touching the cones." Prizes were awarded at the Case Customer Centre where Gabriele Galeani, European marketing director for CNH Construction Equipment, pointed out how important it was for the Case team to share experiences with customers so products could be enhanced.

"You are a vital part of making our company a success," said Galeani, revealing that 2011 will be full of new products, which will soon be unveiled.

During the evening, six prizes were awarded for contestants' individual scores and the combined score per country.
