The loan is coming from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM). The plans call for upgrades and maintenance works to be carried out over the 2024-2033 period to 1,200km of Morocco’s motorway routes. ADM’s motorway upgrade programme will cost an estimated $643 million in total. The firm will use its own sources for the rest of the financing required. A budget of $99 million will be set for building new roads and maintaining existing links in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. The budget has been agreed by the local authorities and Morocco’s Ministry of Equipment and Water. In addition, a new $32 million junction will be built in Sidi Maarouf, just south of Casablanca. The new interchange is to be constructed by Société de Travaux Agricoles Marocains (STAM) and its subsidiary VIAS.
