The US$180 million project to build an improved road connection between Labé and Kédougou in northern Guinea is underway. The Chinese firms China Road Bridge and Corporation (CRBC), China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, and Henan China are working on the project. The companies have contracts for sections of broadly similar length.
Financing for the 107km road section is being provided by the Islamic Development Bank as well as the African Development Bank and the Guinea Government. The project will improve transport connections with neighbouring Senegal, as well as Mali.
