Two important transport infrastructure projects planned in Brazil are now moving closer to development.

One is for a tunnel connecting Santos with Guaruja. The other is for construction work on the BR-163 Highway in Mato Grosso do Sul.

A feasibility study will be started to investigate the proposal for the tunnel linking Santos with Guaruja. The tunnel is an alternative transport solution to the bridge, also proposed to link the two. Building a new connection for traffic is of key importance as it will boost transport to and from the port of Santos.

Meanwhile, the tender process is being planned for work to the BR-163 highway. The upgrade will be carried out on 846km of the route. Feasibility studies will be carried out in 2021, with the tender expected to open itself in 2022.
