Building work for the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Inter-Island Bridges (PGNIB) project and Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) should commence in the next two years. The works are being planned by the Philippines' Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Construction of the BCIB is expected to cost US$3.14 billion according to estimates carried out by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Meanwhile, work is commencing on the Arterial Road Bypass Project Phase III (ARBP III). The project will see the link being widened so that it features two lanes in either direction instead of one lane in either direction as at present. Costing $94.15 million, the work is being carried out as part of the infrastructure flagship project (IFP), itself forming part of the Build-Better-More programme.
