New bridges are planned in the Philippines. One of the new structures will connect Mactan Island to Olango Island. Another structure meanwhile is planned to connect Olango Island first with Banacon Island and then to Getafe on Bohol.

The project is expected to cost US$1.58 billion to carry out. The project is being put forward by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp (MPTC). Once the work is complete, this will provide a fixed link connecting Cebu Island with Bohol Island, helping boost trade and tourism in the area.

The new Cebu Island-Mactan Island expressway and bridge link opened earlier this year.

Meanwhile, MPTC is also considering an option to extend the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway by 1.9km in Cebu City. This would improve access to and from the new toll bridge, boosting traffic. A budget has not yet been revealed for the proposed works.
