Construction work is commencing on the new ring road project for the city of Rawalpindi in Northern Pakistan. The project was awarded by the Rawalspindi Development Authority (RDA) to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).

The package of works is worth around US$123.6 million. The main component of the project will be for the construction of a 38km stretch of highway that will link the M-2 route at Thallian with the N-5 at Baanth. The construction work is expected to take 24 months to complete.

This project is one of several new roads planned for Pakistan, with the current administration having prioritised improved transport infrastructure.
