Transport in India’s Ladakh region will benefit from nearly US$143 million worth of funding. The package is being provided via the Ministry for Road Transport and Highways of India. The funding will be used to pay for 29 road projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Road improvements and maintenance works will be carried out.

An additional budget of $22.2 million is being provided for work to eight bridges during the 2023/2024 financial year. Although Ladakh is India’s largest Union Territory, it has the second lowest population of any in the country. Located in Northern India, Ladakh borders several countries and is mountainous.
