Construction work on a new highway project in El Salvador will commence in early 2018. Funding worth a total of US$365.2 million will pay for this project and a series of others also. Improving the La Paz coastal road will cost $125.3 million with bids being received for the work at present and a completion date expected in 2020. The road projects will be administered by a government body set up for the task called Fomilenio II. A significant portion of the funding required, $277 million, was supplied the 2707 Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
