Massive new expressway projects are being planned for China’s Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province.

Official approval has been given for the new expressway that will connect Panzhihua and Yanyuan in Sichuan Province. Meanwhile, in Yunnan Province bidding is now underway for the survey and design package for a new expressway planned to link Jinghong with Jingha, Guanlei and Mengla.

The expressway linking Panzhihua and Yanyuan in Sichuan Province will be 141km in length and is expected to cost US$5.15 billion. Work on the project is expected to commence later in 2023 and will take five years to complete.
Building the 145km expressway in Yunnan Province is expected to cost $4.22 billion. The route will feature a design speed of 80km/h.
